Since its inception ANS has played an integral role in raising awareness about accessibility and working for change across the province.
In January 2006, members of ANS presented a comprehensive proposal for a $250,000 government grant to small and medium sized businesses to Minister Barry Barnet Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations. Though there has been a shuffle of personnel within government ANS intends to present to the new minister and continue lobbying for a grant that will increase accessibility in the private sector.
ANS assisted the Human Rights Commission in disseminating surveys and compiling a resource guide for accessible eateries in Halifax aptly titled: Grabbing a Bite Out of Metro.
